The Series: The Panthers will get back in to Big South competition when Radford visits Williard Stadium this weekend. HPU is 18-15 against Radford in the Division I era and 8-2 against the Highlanders in the last 10 meetings. The Panthers hold an 8-7 advantage in games played at Williard Stadium. Last year the teams played just one, rain-shortened game before the rest of the series was rained out. The Panthers won Friday's suspended game, 16-11. Due to both teams not having an official at-bat in the ninth, the score reverted back to the previous inning's score and a grand slam by Bill Manion was taken away. Eight innings were officially in the books for that contest, which was stopped due to darkness. Max Fulginiti went 3-5 with two RBI and a run scored in the game.

Radford: The Highlanders have posted a 15-16 record this season with a 4-5 mark in Big South play. After sweeping UNC Asheville to open conference play, Radford dropped two of three to Charleston Southern and last weekend Liberty swept the Highlanders. Radford picked up a pair of midweek wins over James Madison and Longwood this week. Matt Hillsinger leads the team with a .363 batting average and Tyren Rivers has a  team-high 23 RBI. Friday's starter, Aerik Taylor, went five innings in his last start, giving up nine runs on 11 hits to Liberty.

Last Series: The Panthers continued to struggle dropping a midweek, home-and-home series with Appalachian State. HPU is 1-9 in the last 10 games.

Probable Starting Rotation
•Friday: Senior Jamie Serber has started every Friday game this season and will take the mound for the opening game of the Radford series. Serber has looked strong in his last two starts but come up with a loss and a no-decision. At Liberty on April 2 Serber went 4-2/3 innings, allowing six runs, only one of which was earned to get his first, and only, loss of the season. At Coastal Carolina last Friday he allowed just three runs in his first six innings but the Chanticleers put up a six-run seventh inning which proved to be the difference in the game.
•Saturday: Sophomore Al Yevoli will make his fourth start of the season, and his 14th appearance. He started the season in the rotation but was moved to the bullpen after two starts. Last weekend he got the start at Coastal Carolina, allowing 12 runs in 5-1/3 innings. Only five of the runs he allowed were earned, as his team had five errors in the game.
•Sunday: Freshman Jared Avidon continues as the Sunday starter. He got his first loss of the season last weekend at Coastal Carolina, allowing four runs, two earned, in 4-1/3 innings. He didn't walk a batter in the outting.

Record Watch, Doubles: Max Fulginiti and Matt Gantner are both close to setting the HPU record for doubles in a season. Fulginiti has 19 doubles this season and Gantner has 18. The record is 21 set by Gerald Culler in 1979. Fulginiti is tied with Mark Shorey (2006) and Jimmy Boyles (1976) for the second most in a season with 19. Gantner is tied with John Cavanaugh (2002) and Billy Alvino (2009) for the fifth best in a season.

Record Watch, Hit by Pitch: Nate Roberts and Pablo Rosario have each been hit by 16 pitches this season, tying them for fifth most in a season at High Point with Billy Alvino who was hit by 16 in 2007. Rosario holds the record for getting hit in a season after taking 19 last season. Rosario has been hit with 42 pitches in his career, third most in the HPU record books. The record is 51 set by Jeff Cowan from 2006-09.

Best Division I Start: The Panthers got off to the best start in the HPU's Divisin I era. High Point posted a  17-13 record through the first 30 games, it is the most wins through the first 30 games HPU has ever had, beating the 16 wins the 2002 and 2007 teams posted. It is only the second time in the D1 era the Panthers have had double-digit wins through the first 20 games. In 2002 High Point was 10-10 through 20 games. High Point has not had a winning season in the DI era and the last winning season was in 1990 when HPU went 32-18.

Gantner closed out his week with a .889 slugging percentage and a .652 on base percentage in the five-game span, eight RBI and seven runs scored.

Walk-Off Win: Robbie Gilles came off the bench with a pinch-hit, walk-off single in the ninth innings against VMI. He took the 1-1 pitch from VMI's Michael Devine through the left side to score Nate Roberts and Kyle Mahoney. It is the second walk-off win for HPU this season.
