Bachelor Pad A new reality series spins off of "The Bachelor/ette" franchise. The premise gathers 19 former participants in the network's romance-search reality franchise and installs them in a camera-equipped mansion. Challenges, vote-offs, elimination immunity, a summertime air window and a $250,000 prize waiting at the end of the season make it sound like a blatant "Big Brother" rip-off. As radio comedian Fred Allen first said a long time ago, imitation is the sincerest form of television. Today (August 9), 7 p.m. WGNO.

Teen Choice 2010 Katy Perry hosts. Today (August 9), 7 p.m. WVUE.

El Espiritu de la Salsa A diverse array of New Yorkers learn to dance. Today (August 9), 8 p.m. HBO.

Flipping Out Jeff Lewis launches the reality series' fourth season. Tuesday (August 10), 8 p.m. Bravo.

Hair Battle Spectacular Brooke Burns hosts a new tease-off. The episode's subtitle says it all: "Go Big or Go Home." Tuesday (August 10), 9 p.m. Oxygen.

Cropsey: The Urban Legend A documentary examines the true-crime facts behind a Staten Island mystery. Friday (August 13), 8 p.m. ID.

CNN Heroes: Coming Back from Katrina Anderson Cooper hosts a Katrina anniversary special dedicated to the local CNN Heroes honored for their recovery work, Liz McCartney, Tad Agoglia and Derrick Tabb. Saturday (August 14), 7 p.m. CNN.

Class Justin Bruening ("Knight Rider") and Jodi Lyn O'Keefe ("Prison Break") star in a made-for-TV movie about a law student who helps a single mother. Saturday (August 14), 8 p.m. Hallmark.

The Great Food Truck Race Gourmet food trucks cross the country en route to a $50,000 prize. TV chef Tyler Florence hosts. The series has at least two angles of interest to local viewers: One of the teams, Ragin' Cajun, lists Hermosa Beach, Calif., as its home city but its mobile cuisine grows from Louisiana roots. And, the series came through New Orleans on its trek, an episode to air September 5. Sunday (August 15), 9 p.m. Food.

The protagonists of the Metal Hero Series are mainly [[space]] and [[police]]-based characters who are typically androids, cyborgs, or humans that don "metallic" suits. Henceforth, most of the Metal Heroes are also referenced as "[[Henshin]] (transforming) Heroes." Usually, the genre revolves around a technological theme where technology, in the right hands, can be used for the greater good.

Some of the Metal Hero Series even spawned sequels which followed the continuity of the previous shows, resulting in the genre developing sub-categories based mainly on space and police-related characters.

In the 1990s, [[Saban]] adapted some of the Metal Hero Series shows for American audiences in the United States. Stock footage from ''Metalder'', ''Spielvan'' and ''Shaider'' was used in ''[[VR Troopers]]'' (1994–1996). Later, footage from both ''B-Fighter'' series was used in ''[[Big Bad Beetleborgs]]''. Both shows ran for two seasons and ended when all the stock footage from those series were used up.

In the [[Philippines]], where several series have aired and dubbed into local languages, ''[[Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawakan]]'' has been given the go ahead from Toei to be allowed to be a "sequel" to ''Shaider'', featuring characters intended to be the descendents of those of the original series.<ref>cite web|url=http://www.pep.ph/news/13162/GMA-7-acquires-exclusive-rights-to-Shaider|title=GMA-7 acquires exclusive rights to "Shaider"|publisher=''pep.ph''|accessdate=2007-09-20</ref> Later on, Toei had refused the production to be aired.
