'Heroes' creator makes a 'Shift' to the literary world - USA Today Posted: 06 Aug 2010 08:14 AM PDT 'Heroes' creator makes a 'Shift' to the literary worldThis year it was a little strange to attend Comic-Con without some of the major TV panels, namely Lost and Heroes. (Yep, the Heroes panel even drew a sizable crowd last year. Go figure.) However, series creator Tim Kring and former star/panel moderator Zach Quinto were on hand in San Diego to promote Kring's new novel, Shift (Crown, $26). The '60s-set thriller arrives in stores next week. Shift is a definite departure from Heroes, though it does involve someone acquiring unexplainable powers: The story follows "a man whose life is changed forever when he is unwittingly dragged into a CIA mind-control experiment. After being given a massive dose of LSD, (he) develops a frightening array of mental powers." He then begins to uncover a plot to kill JFK. The book is being heavily promoted, and you can read a 38-page excerpt on the publisher's site. Here's the official trailer: Shift was co-authored by Dale Peck and is the first of a planned trilogy.
